Special Emphasis: Surgery, lameness and orthopedic disease, particularly the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoarthritis
My passion as a surgeon includes both orthopedic and soft tissue cases. I have a strong interest in lameness and orthopedic disease, particularly the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoarthritis. I enjoy the variety of cases and the pace here at Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital.
I grew up in London, Ontario, Canada, where I consider my family (3 sisters and parents) to definitely be “city folks”. I began riding at the age of 5, and was later joined by my younger sister and mother. Initially, I did some dressage, and later discovered Pony Club and eventing with my first horse "Tyler". I moved to Guelph, Ontario in 1994, and completed my Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. In 2001 I left Ontario (and Canada) to spend a year in Ocala, Florida at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital as a hospital intern. From there I returned to Guelph and spent the last 3 years completing a residency in large animal surgery.
I love spending time outdoors with my lab-cross, "Dexter" and my rehabilitated Standardbred racehorse, "Belly". In my spare time I unwinds by reading novels and watching movies or football. I also enjoy myrole as “Auntie Court” to my seven nieces and nephews.
Dr. Bolam has made a huge impact at our clinic - “What started out as a routine trip to the clinic with one of my broodmares, suddenly turned into a roadside life threatening trailer incident. Dr. Bolam and her team expertly assessed the situation…because of her efforts, this mare is sound, healthy, and doing her job.” - - - Terri Sherman (Sherwood Arabians)
