Rachel Jahnke, DVM
Background: I
was born and raised in Manchester, England. I started riding (English, of
course) when I was seven years old. I owned a Cleveland Bay Thoroughbred cross
and did dressage until my horse "Toya" was diagnosed with Navicular
disease in 1987. I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in
Saskatchewan, Canada in 1990 and completed my internship at Atlantic Veterinary
College on Prince Edward Island. In 1998 I joined the Wisconsin Equine Clinic.
Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy traveling, Tai Chi, hiking and horse back riding more for pleasure
these days.
Medical Interests: While I love all aspects of equine ambulatory practice my strong interests lie in equine ophthalmology (eyes), Veterinary
Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VSMT) and Internal
Medicine. I am also developing a great interest in Traditional Chinese medicine
with an emphasis on acupuncture. Being an ambulatory vet is very exciting and
interesting. I love meeting so many varied and fascinating people, and its great
to see them interact and bond with their horses.
