The Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital Geriatric Wellness Program is recommended as a preventive measure for the early detection and implementation of a medical management plan to address the changes associated with the aging process in older horses.
Enrolling your "senior" horse in our equine geriatric program will provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your older horse is receiving the best possible geriatric preventative health care each year. This program aids in the early diagnosis of subtle changes by giving your veterinarian a base line from which to compare test results. Early detection and appropriate medical treatment will extend the healthy and happy life span of your horse.
The program is two-fold. First, a detailed physical and oral exam, gait assessment and a comprehensive set of blood tests is performed. Second, our Boad Certified Internal Medicine Specialist will evaluate the results and provide you with a full Annual Health Report and answer your questions and concerns. This valuable report will serve as a baseline for charting your horse's health into their "retirement years."
We recommend our Geriatric Wellness Program for all horses over 14 years of age and have designed a program for your consideration.
