Courtney Bolam, DVM
DVSc, DACVS
Board Certified Surgery
Background: Dr. Bolam grew up in London, Ontario,
Canada, where she considered her family (3 sisters and parents) to definitely be
“city folks”. She began riding at the age of 5, and was later joined by her
younger sister and mother. Initially, she did some dressage, and later
discovered Pony Club and eventing with her first horse Tyler. She moved to
Guelph, Ontario in 1994, and completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine degrees. In 2001 she left Ontario (and Canada) to spend a
year in Ocala, Florida at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital as a hospital
intern. From there she returned to Guelph and spent the last 3 years completing
a residency in large animal surgery. We at Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital
are excited to have her join our clinic and feel she will be a valuable part of
our team.
Hobbies:Courtney loves spending time outdoors with her German
Shorthair, Connor and her rehabilitated Standardbred racehorse, Belly. In her
spare time she unwinds by reading novels and watching movies or football. She
also enjoys her role as “Auntie Court” to her six nieces and nephews!!
Medical Interests:Courtney’s passion as a surgeon includes both orthopedic
and soft tissue cases. She has a strong interest in lameness and orthopedic
disease, particularly the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of
osteoarthritis. Courtney enjoys the variety of cases and the pace of our
private equine practice here in Wisconsin, and looks forward to sharing her
experiences with you and your horses
Already, Dr. Bolam has made a huge impact at
our clinic. “What started out as a routine trip to the clinic with one of my
broodmares, suddenly turned into a roadside life threatening trailer incident.
Dr. Bolam and her team expertly assessed the situation…because of her efforts,
this mare is sound, healthy, and doing her job”. Terri Sherman(Sherwood
