Andrew Schmidt, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACT
Background: I was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up south of
Kansas City on a family owned Arabian horse farm with a few cows, dogs, etc. I
showed horses as a youth in equitation, western pleasure, reining, and halter. I
also participated in youth judging teams. In 1984 I married an Iowa girl,
Shantelle, and have two great children, Ben and Brinkley. We moved our family to
Wisconsin 10 years ago.
Hobbies: I enjoy travel, remodeling projects, and outdoor activities with my family. Personal favorite activities include windsurfing, canoeing,
cutting wood and fixing "stuff". Family members are located in
Atlanta, Kansas City, Columbus and Sarasota thus requiring frequent road trips.
Medical Interests: My area of special interest is equine
reproduction. In particular I enjoy the challenges of fertility evaluations of
the mare and stallion, embryo transfer, and insemination of fresh and frozen
semen.
